St. Louis City leaders have the task of figuring out how to close a $45 million budget gap. One suggestion emerging from the mayor’s office is to merge and or combine several city services.
Last Friday, the mayor threw out a number of ideas such as combining the dispatch centers for the city police, fire and ambulance services.
Currently, all 911 calls go to the police department, then a dispatcher transfers the call to fire or EMS depending on the callers needs.
Other ideas on the table include merging the city’s license collector’s office with the revenue collector’s office and combing the city’s crime lab with the county’s crime lab.
If you have an idea you can submit them to city officials online. I’ve pasted the link below http://stlcin.missouri.org/index/contact-budget-ideas.cfm
