(KMOV)-- Police have arrested a man accused of robbing a gas station in High Ridge, MO.
According to Sheriff Oliver Boyer, 50-year-old Charles Melvin entered the BP Gas Station located in the 2100 block of High Ridge Boulevard around 8 p.m. Saturday wearing a ski mask, gloves, and flourishing a knife.
Melvin threatened the clerk and demanded money. After getting money from the register, Melvin fled the area on foot, but was observed off the roadway by a Sheriff's Deputy. The deputy apprehended Melvin and recovered the stolen money.
Melvin has an extensive criminal history including convictions for Robbery and Burglary.
Melvin was charged with one count of Robbery 1st degree.
He is currently in custody at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Jail on $50,000.00 cash only bond.
