CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois has been left out of the NCAA tournament for the second time in three seasons.
Five other Big Ten teams made the cut. They included Minnesota, which finished behind Illinois in the regular season but made it to the conference tournament final.
The Illini (19-14) opened the season in the Top 25. But they closed the regular season with five losses in six games and had ugly early season losses to Utah, Bradley and Georgia.
Illinois was 5-9 against top 50 opponents, including two wins over No. 11 Wisconsin.
