(KMOV) – One man is dead after pulling into the path of a Warrenton police officer.

Police said just after noon on Sunday a Warrenton City Officer was traveling north on Highway 47 with lights and siren on when a vehicle pulled out in front of him.
The officer was responding to a call and vehicles pulled over to let him by.
Donald Wood, 59, from Warrenton, attempted to make a left turn onto Ash Road as the officer approached.  The cars collided and came to rest in a nearby field. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital and his condition is unkown. Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
