Jupiter, Fl (KMOV) - After eight Grapefruit League games of going without a hit, Albert Pujols made his presence known on Saturday against the visting Houston Astros.
Pujols, who had not played since last Saturday due to an aggravated lower-back, had a single, double, and a walk in helping the Cardinals defeat the Astros 8-5.
As a team, the Cardinals had two home runs and seven doubles, including a Ryan Ludwick solo shot to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning.
Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter made his second start of the Spring, giving up two earned runs on four hits in three innings pitched. Carpenter threw 58 pitches, 38 of them strikes.
Rich Hill, who missed Friday's game versus the Red Sox because of a rain out, came in after Carpenter and allowed a run on four hits and was credited with the win.
With their third win in as many games, the Cardinals move to a 4-5 record in Grapefruit League play.
The Redbirds' next game is Sunday, where they will take on top prospect Stephen Strasburg and the Washingon Nationals.
