Florissant man sentenced for sex trafficking

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis County man has been sentenced to six years in prison for trying to purchase sex with a 14-year-old girl over the Internet.

The sentence was handed down Thursday for 24-year-old David Hawkey of Florissant. He was one of three men arrested in a sting operation in July. Matthew Nichol has pleaded guilty and the third man, Catholic priest James Grady, is awaiting trial in April.

Hawkey pleaded guilty in December to two felony counts.

In the sting, undercover police placed Web ads offering girls and young women for sex.
