(KMOV) -- Republican Congressman Todd Akin held a town hall meeting of his own on Wednesday morning in St. Charles.
The meeting was held just hours before President Obama is expected to speak at St. Charles High School.
An overflow crowd estimated at more than 1,800 saw the congressman via a video link talking about the impact of health care reform.
Akin and other legislators spoke out against the federal health care bill.
According to the Associated Press, Akin said he called the meeting because the health care proposal was dangerous.
News 4 will have more coverage of this event later today on News 4 at 5 and 6.
