(KMOV) -- On Thursday, the New I-64 Project will clear a new milestone.
Crews will reopen the Hanley and Eager Road intersection in Richmond Heights.
This will be a relief for many drivers who travel through this area because they will no longer have to deal with detours to get to many of the stores in the area.
An 11:00 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for Thursday and drivers should be able to use the new intersection during the Thursday evening commute.
Gateway Constructors were in charge of building the new $6 million intersection.
The new intersection will allow drivers to make left hand turns without clogging up Hanley.
Crews also placed Eager Road under Hanley so drivers heading northbound on Hanley will not have to make left hand turns to get to Eager Road.
St. Louis County officials believe the new intersection should move traffic along much more smoothly.
