Sherwood gets 6-month sentence

JERSEYVILLE - A Grafton man who was drunk when he slammed his SUV into an Alton police officer's car in 2005 pleaded guilty to driving while his license was revoked in a subsequent incident.

Orval L. Sherwood, 29, originally was issued a misdemeanor citation for driving while his license was revoked following a traffic stop on the night of June 1 on Main Street (Illinois Route 100) by the Amoco gas station in Grafton.

However, following a review of Sherwood's criminal history, Jersey County State's Attorney Ben Goetten upgraded the charge to a Class 4 felony.
