St. Louis (KMOV) - The city of St. Louis is raking in huge amounts of money from red-light camera citations.
St. Louis has raked in nearly $10 million since it had the cameras installed about 30 months ago. Part of the money goes to the camera vendor, but about $6.8 million of it goes straight to the city's general revenue fund.
The director of operations claims it's not about making money, but making driving safer. There has been up to an 85 percent drop in citations at city intersections with cameras installed.
