ST. LOUIS (AP) -- AmerenUE has issued a warning to customers about persons misrepresenting themselves in order to obtain credit card or bank account information.
The St. Louis-based utility said Monday that impostors posing as service representatives are calling AmerenUE customers, telling them they will be disconnected unless they make payments that day.
Then, the callers ask the customers for credit card or checking account numbers.
AmerenUE says customers who have complied with such phony demands should cancel their credit card, notify their bank and call police.
