(KMOV) -- Fire crews were called to the scene of a two-alarm fire in the Metro-East.
The fire broke out at a multi-family residence on Cleveland in Belleville, Illinois.
Les Firestone, who works for a nearby roofing company, spotted the flames and called 911. Firestone pounded on the door of the first floor, which alerted the residents inside.
Everyone escaped without injury and the cause of the fire is unknown.
The building used to be a single family 3-story home, but was converted into three apartment units.
