BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Police in the southwestern Illinois city of Belleville hope drug and alcohol tests help determine what caused a homeless woman to die in custody a day after her arrest for suspected trespassing.
Investigators don't suspect foul play in 38-year-old Sunny Swanson's death Friday.
Police Capt. Donald Sax says Swanson and another homeless person were arrested about 5 p.m. Thursday inside a vacant house.
The next day, Swanson was found unresponsive when officers went to take the two suspects to court to face charges of criminal trespassing.
She was later declared dead at a hospital.
