DECTUR, Ill. (AP) -- A part-time central Illinois police officer who was leaving court after posting bail on predatory assault charges was immediately arrested again on a charge of possession of child pornography.
Authorities say 42-year-old Douglas Spensley allegedly sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl at his home on Oct. 9. Authorities say he was caring for the girl while her parents were away.
The officer has been on Warrensburg's police force since 2006 and has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.
After he posted a $50,000 cash bail Friday on the assault charges, officers were waiting for him to make another arrest. He was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of child pornography.
He is due in court Oct. 28.
Spensley's attorney didn't immediately return a message seeking comment Saturday.
