CHICAGO (AP) -- About $242 million will be available for eligible Illinois homeowners who want to weatherize their houses for energy efficiency. ( )
Gov. Pat Quinn announced the funding Thursday for the Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program. Quinn says the money came from the federal stimulus package and will be available for low-income home weatherization projects over the next two years.
Weatherization efforts include insulating attics or walls, repairing windows and doors, weather-stripping and caulking. Quinn says eligible Illinoisans "can now get the services they need to stay safe and warm this winter at no additional charge while reducing the cost of their home energy bills."
