ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis police officer has died of injuries from a duty-related vehicle accident last week.
The Third District Police Partnership will hold its annual flag football game on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. at Cherokee Park, 3428 Lemp Avenue. Proceeds from the game and refreshment sales will be donated to Officer Moore's family.
The police department said Friday that 23-year-old officer Julius Moore died Thursday from injuries he suffered from the accident Oct. 6 in south St. Louis.
Moore was responding to a call to assist fellow officers trying to apprehend burglars when his patrol vehicle, with lights and siren on, collided with a turning tractor trailer.
The collision pushed Moore's vehicle into a traffic light and brick wall before it stopped. He'd been in critical condition at a hospital until he died Thursday evening. Moore had been with the force nearly two years.
The accident is under investigation, but the department says no charges are anticipated at this time to be filed against the truck driver.
Moore is survived by his wife, three children, his parents, a sister and others. Funeral arrangements are pending.
