ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- The McKinley Bridge is back open to traffic following a police pursuit through Illinois that saw speeds hit 100 miles-per-hour.
The incident started around 9:30 a.m. with a report that a car was being broken into at the Wood River High School.
Madison County Sheriff's deputies started following the blue Pontiac Grand Prix, but the female driver refused to stop and the chase was on.
The suspect led a swarm of police vehicles down Route 3 and into Granite City.? Police laid out spike strips at Route 3 and Neidringhaus, blowing out all four tires of the suspect's car.
The suspect continued to drive, heading for the McKinley Bridge, but came to a stop in the westbound lanes before making it across into Missouri.
Police took the suspect into custody.
