JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri's labor market remained relatively steady in September.
The Department of Economic Development said Wednesday that the state lost 3,000 jobs last month. But the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stayed at 9.5 percent -- the same rate as August.
The job losses came primarily in two industries. Manufacturing jobs fell by 1,800 last month, while the food services and accommodation sector declined by 2,100 jobs.
Missouri's unemployment rate was slightly below the national average of 9.8 percent -- marking the seventh straight month that it has been so.
