ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Increased attention on swine flu has raised demand for seasonal flu vaccinations as well. So, the Downtown Urgent Care Center in St. Louis has devised a way to both protect people from the seasonal flu and increase blood donations.
It's holding a "Shots for Blood Day" where visitors who donate blood can get a free seasonal flu vaccine. The center says it has joined in the effort with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 20, and those who give blood can get the vaccine while supplies last. The center notes it does not yet have the swine flu vaccine available.
