After losing its center and left tackle to graduation, the Illinois offensive line was a question coming into the season.
Even with players attesting to good communication and attention to detail stemming from their new coach, Joe Gilbert, offensive line play has been added to the long list of things that haven't quite gone the way the Illini expected.
"Last week (against Penn State) I thought the inside three guys played well enough to win and the outside guys didn't, and I'm not sure any of them played well enough to win (against Michigan State)," Illinois head coach Ron Zook said. "All those guys have to play to the best of their ability, particularly when we're in a slump like this."
