EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A southwestern Illinois jury has awarded $150,000 to a mother who alleged in a lawsuit that her son was stomped on the head at a day care center.
Madison County jurors on Wednesday sided with Sossity Laleman in connection with the 2006 attack on her then 4-year-old son, by worker John Welle at the Carrousel Too Day Care in Granite City.
Welle's lawyer and the day care center's owner told jurors the stomping couldn't have happened as claimed. Attorney David Friess says the boy wasn't taken to a hospital and that no one testified he was harmed by supposedly being stomped on the head on a concrete floor covered by only thin carpeting.
