In opening statements at a civil trial that started Tuesday, attorney Mark Levy described the young boy to jurors.
"Big ears. Big brown eyes. Big smile. Smart, loving boy," he said of the boy, who had just turned 4.
Levy was in Circuit Judge David Hylla's courtroom representing the boy's mother, Sossity Laleman, who had hired him in 2007 to represent her in a lawsuit against Jane Tolhurst, the owner of Carrousel Too Day Care in Granite City and a friend that Tolhurst had hired to work for her as a day care employee, John Welle.
