Affton man charged with statutory rape after lying about age

St. Louis (KMOV) - An Affton man has been charged with statutory rape after lying about his age.

?

The St. Louis County prosecuting attorney said Christopher Elders, 30, went to the home of a 14-year-old girl, where the supposed crime was committed. Elders had met the girl weeks before and traded phone numbers with the victim after convincing her that he was 17 years old.

?

Elders showed up at the girl's home when she was alone, but was caught by one of her parents. Elders then admitted to lying about his age to both the girl and her parent.

?

Elders is currently in custody on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

?

St. Louis County police have reason to believe Elders has lied about his age before. Anyone with any information on any other offenses involving Elders is urged to call 314-889-2341.
