(KMOV) -- A St. Louis police officer involved in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon is still hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators tell News 4 that the officer was rushing to a call in south St. Louis with lights and sirens on when his cruiser crashed into a tractor-trailer. The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. at Arsenal and Broadway.
The truck driver was not injured and is cooperating with investigators.
The injured officer is 23-years-old and has been on the force for a little less than two years. The officer's name has not been released.
St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom had been out of town until Tuesday night. News 4 was told he moved up his return flight a few hours so he could get to the hospital as soon as possible. He came straight here last night to check on this injured officer and the one who was shot Monday morning. He then went home but came right back up here this morning and has been here all day with the recovering officers and offering comfort to the officers' families.
