The Illinois football team's matchup with Penn State was advertised as an "Orange Out." Much like Penn State's annual "White Out," the event was designed for orange-clad fans to surround and intimidate the Nittany Lions.
But all the orange that remained in the Memorial Stadium student section in the closing minutes of the Illini's 35-17 loss on Saturday were a few dwindling fans and a bunch of abandoned orange pom poms.
"The fans have expectations for us," quarterback Juice Williams said. "Obviously, if we don't fulfill those, you can get upset. But it's our job to please them, it's our job to live up to those expectations and come out on top."
