(KMOV) – The next time you’re driving through downtown St. Louis, keep an eye out for a new urban rain garden that’s more than just something nice to see.
Because downtown consists of a lot of pavement and not so much green space, there is not a lot of area that absorbs rain water, says Maggie Campbell of the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis.
This lack of green space can lead to flooding when rains are heavy, and a rain garden can be part of that solution.
A first of its kind demonstration rain garden has been installed downtown at 11th and Pine streets. To learn more about how it works, watch the video above. And if you have an idea for the Go Green segment, email Kristen Cornett at firstname.lastname@example.org.
