ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The Nativity scene at Hope Lutheran School in St. Louis now shows crafted child figures worshipping a couple of metal stakes.
That's because someone stole the figures of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the scene was intact as of Saturday evening after the school's annual craft fair. On Sunday morning, a member of the church reported the holy family was missing.
The wooden figures cost about $100 to make. The Joseph cutout is about 4 feet tall, Mary is 3 feet tall and Jesus and the manger are 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide.
Church leaders believe adults took the figures because cutting tools were necessary to get them out.
