(KMOV)-- A woman is dead after the car she was driving left the road, crashing into an icy creek near Defiance, Missouri.

This happened around noon Monday at Highway F and Walnut Creek Trail in St. Charles County.

Authorities have identified the victim as 61-year-old Ladonna Weeks, a resident from Defiance.

Authorities say that the victim ran off the right side of the road, down a 30 foot embankment, and overturned. Weeks was conscious for about 5 minutes, communicating with an off duty officer. The victim was in cardiac arrest when officers arrived to the scene.

It took authorities about ten minutes upon their arrival to remove her from her vehicle. They say the victim was submerged in 3 to 4 feet of water.
There were no witnesses to this accident.

A passerby spotted her tire tracks, which is how they found her car in the water.
