(KMOV) – A woman says an intruder shoved an assault rifle in her face, and just seconds later, police rushed in to save her.
Police say an alert neighbor saw three suspicious men walking around an apartment complex in the 6800 block of Marybelle in East St. Louis around 5:45 a.m. That neighbor called the police and about three minutes later they were on the scene.
The victim says that the men kicked in her front door and took a 56-inch flat screen television all while she was hiding under some covers on a couch.
But then she says the gunman spotted her. He allegedly pointed his rifle at the woman and said that since she saw his face, he would have to kill her.
At that time, police burst through.
All of the suspects took off, but officers would later catch the gunmen running down the road.
Detectives say they believe the suspect in custody is connected to several other break-ins in town.
