CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Another Missouri town is requiring a prescription to purchase cold and sinus pills containing pseudoephedrine as part of the effort to fight methamphetamine.
The Southeast Missourian reports that council members in Scott City adopted a prescription law Monday -- the same day neighboring Cape Girardeau did the same.
The Scott City law is effective Jan. 1. The ordinance also requires pharmacies to report the theft, shortage, disappearance or other losses of pseudoephedrine.
Missouri has led the nation in meth lab busts every year since 2003.
