(KMOV) -- After three months off the air for maternity leave, Virginia Kerr will soon return to KMOV in a new role.
When Virginia returns in mid-January, she will be returning as one of the co-hosts of Great Day St. Louis, the community and lifestyle show that airs weekdays at 10:00 a.m. on KMOV.
Virginia will co-host with Carol Daniel, Matt Chambers and Kent Ehrhardt. lt's a terrific opportunity
for the station and for Virginia. "Virginia is a natural for Great Day St. Louis and she is definitely going to be a great addition to the show. We look forward to Virginia sharing her perspective on a variety of lifestyle topics, especially her unique perspective as a brand new mom," says Liz Mullen, Director of Programming and Production at KMOV.
With Virginia joining Great Day St. Louis, Claire Kellett will now assume permanent co-anchor duties of Awake with News 4. Kellett has been filling in on that show since Virginia went on leave in October. She joins John Knicely, Matt Chambers and the rest of the Awake team. "Over the past few months, Claire has really proven that she is a unique person, and a perfect fit for the job, said KMOV Executive News Director Sean McLaughlin. "She is an excellent communicator who happens to also be a genuinely nice person and she knows and appreciates all of the things that make St. Louis such a great place. He added Claire is a native St. Louisan (a Nerinx Hall and Mizzou graduate,) and previously worked as an anchor and reporter at KCRG in Cedar Rapids, lowa.
KMOV President and General Manager Allan Cohen says these new assignments are the perfect win-win situation. "These are two extraordinary people who have great local knowledge, get great response from the local audience, and who will remain valuable assets to KMOV for years to come, he said.
