(KMOV) – Members of President Obama’s cabinet will be in St. Louis Friday to discuss plans to expand and improve the Arch grounds.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will be joined by Senator Claire McCaskill, to tour the arch and discuss new concepts of the Arch grounds expansion and improvements.
The project is estimated to cost around $300- million and Mayor Francis Slay expects it to be completed by the Arch’s 50th anniversary, in late 2015. The $300-million will come from both private and public funds.
The design firm selected to head the project plans to make the Arch grounds more inviting and more accessible from both sides of the Mississippi.
