EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Prosecutors are accusing a 14-year-old boy of making a false bomb threat that forced the evacuation of a southwestern Illinois courts building where one of his relatives was having a court appearance.
Authorities didn't identify the teenager from Florissant, Mo., who is suspected in Monday's threat at the Madison County Criminal Justice Center in Edwardsville.
A spokeswoman for the state's attorney's office says the boy is being held in the county's juvenile detention center and will be prosecuted as a juvenile.
No explosives were found after a bomb-sniffing dog and its handler from the Alton Police Department searched the building.
The courthouse was evacuated for about two hours as a precaution and remained closed for the rest of the day.
