UPLANDS PARK, Mo. (AP) -- Two St. Louis-area men who worked as police officers are accused of doing so without a valid license.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that misdemeanor charges were filed Tuesday against 35-year-old Lamont Aikens of Florissant and 57-year-old Kenneth Minner of Uplands Park. Former Uplands Park Police Chief Henry Smith was charged for allowing them to work without a license.
Aikens was uniformed and in a patrol car in 2009 when he chased a speeding car into St. Louis. The car crashed and killed a mother of four.
The Post-Dispatch cited court records showing that Aikens has criminal convictions and at least 18 arrests.
A phone call to Aikens' home on Wednesday was not answered. Minner and Smith did not have listed numbers. It wasn't immediately clear if they had attorneys.
