Champaign, IL (KMOV.com) --This week multiple All-American teams have been named and four members Illinois' football team have made the lists.
Senior linebacker Brit Miller was named to the third-team and sophomore receiver Arrelious Benn was picked on the fourth-team by Phil Steeler Magazine. Junior cornerback Vontae Davis was selected to the third-team by Rivals.com, and true-freshman offensive tackle Jeff Allen earned a spot on the second-team Freshman All-America list by The Sporting News.
Miller replaced J Lehman as Illinois' defensive leader. Miller recorded 132 total tackles, 15 for a loss. He also tallied six sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception. On Sept. 13 against Louisiana-Layfayette, Miller returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown.
Benn was named Illinois' Team MVP in 2008. He caught 67 passes for 1,055 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned 20 kickoffs for 398 yards and 15 punts for 114. He ended the season with 1,668 all purpose yards. In 2008, Benn tallied five games with at least 100 receiving yards and two more with at least 90. This included four consecutive 100 yard receiving games. On Oct. 11, he caught 12 passes for 181 yards against Minnesota.
Davis tallied 78 tackles in 2008. He also broke up eight passes, picked off two passes and forced three fumbles. Davis recorded the a game-clinching interception against Iowa on Nov. 1.
Allen was part of the Illini offense that led the Big Ten in total offense (448.3) and passing (274.5). Illinois also led the Big Ten averaging 30.4 points a game. As a true freshman, he made his first start at Penn State on Sept. 27.
