St. Louis (KMOV) -- Slick road conditions led to dozens of car accidents in the greater St. Louis area early Monday morning.
Accidents were reported on I-170, I-270, & I-44 as well as on other side streets and highways on both sides of the river.
One of the biggest accidents included a jackknifed tractor trailer that blocked four lanes on Southbound I-270 near Ladue Road, no injuries were reported in that crash.
The other major collision occurred on Highway 30 in Fenton between 6:30 and 7am. It involved at least five vehicles, including a school bus and an overturned construction truck. It is known that two people were removed from a car and have been taken to a nearby hospital. It is unknown whether there were any children on board the school bus.
MODOT crews are working to put salt down on roadways and want to remind drivers that road conditions are subject to change from wet to extremely icy over a very short period of time.
Motorists are cautioned to watch bridges, overpasses, highway ramps, as well as untreated side streets and parking lots.
