(KMOV) - After sitting and watching the entire Missouri loss to Texas on my 47 inch HD Flat screen TV a sense of calm came over me. Missouri just got routed 56-31and I was relaxed, poised and collected. As cool as a cucumber and Colt Mc Coy for that matter. You may be wondering how a hyped up die hard Missouri fan who has been known to throw scream and kick things when things aren't going right could feel so good about this recent debacle.
I'll let you in on a secret. The reason I felt this way was, the hard part of the season is technically over. The Tigers went 1-2 in the 3 game stretch many thought would give them trouble. The Tigers were a touchdown away from beating a very good Oklahoma State team and didnt play well at all and Texas is, well, Texas.
Now forgive me for looking ahead but thats just what I was doing when this calm came on strong. Next up, Colorado at home. This is a win no doubt about it. Probably by three touchdowns. The Buffalos just haven't shown they can compete with teams of Missouri's caliber. Colorado's biggest problem is they cant score. Missouri will be 6-2 and 2-2 in the Big Twelve.
After Colorado, the Tigers go and play the Baylor Bears. Do I even have to go into this? A definite win. The Tigers could sleep walk and still beat Baylor, one of the worst teams in the Big Twelve in every way. Missouri is now 7-2 and 3-2 in the Big Twelve.
Can you see where I am going with this? After Baylor the Tigers return to Faurot Field and play a Kansas State team still searching for an identity. Missouri will handle Kansas State I'd say by four touchdowns. So Missouri is 8-2 and 4-2 in the Big Twelve.
Next is Iowa State in Aimes, Iowa. Iowa State lost to Baylor, enough said. The Cyclones can't score with Missouri and their defense is young. Missouri is now 9-2 and 5-2 in the Big Twelve.
Finally the Tigers have you back on board as they play Kansas at Arrowhead in Kansas City. After losing key Defensive players like Aquib Talib does anyone really think that Kansas can beat Missouri? Lets be honest, the Kansas Jayhawks have not looked good this season and have escaped some close games. Kansas barely beat Iowa State 35-33. Missouri is just a better team and Chase will win his last regular season game as a Tiger.
So after a crushing defeat deep in the heart of Texas, the Tigers record will look like this after the next five games 10-2 and 6-2 in the BIg Twelve. By this time everyone will forget about what happened these last two weeks and will be buying into Missouri being able to beat Texas or Oklahoma.
The Tigers will then go back to Arrowhead and promptly lose because they aren't ready to beat those types of high caliber teams. Even a scenario like that would be OK the Tigers would be 10-3 and heading most likely back to the Cotton Bowl. And if the Tigers were to some how win that Championship game, they would head to Phoenix Arizona to play in the Fiesta Bowl.
Either way this Tiger team is too good not to win at least 10 games this season and if you Joe the Plumber Tiger fan would have been told the Tigers would win 10 plus games two years in a row with the hype of national title consideration what Missouri fan in their right mind would not take that?
So please, calm down Missouri fans. Relax, chill out, it will all be OK. I grew up in upstate New York near Syracuse. I talk to my best friends and my family there all the time. Just think, it could be worse. You could be an Orange fan!
