(FootballStL) - I really like what the Rams did in round one of the draft. Grabbing a mauler on the offensive line and a pass rushing defensive tackle fits Jeff Fisher’s style perfectly.

And they wanted to move up and grab another offensive lineman, Zack Martin, later in the first round but couldn’t get it done.

A lot is made about how Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson have changed the NFC West landscape, but the reality is the 49ers and Seahawks are dominant because they are so physical on both sides of the ball. Period. End of discussion.

The Arizona Cardinals are putting together a filthy, nasty defense while also improving greatly on the offensive line. The Rams were manhandled at the line of scrimmage by all three division opponents on the road last season. Fisher and Les Snead aren’t going to tolerate a repeat.

As for Friday’s second round pick, I think offensive line is still in play as well as safety, cornerback, and maybe even wide receiver. I do not want to see the Rams use a second round pick on a quarterback as some have suggested. Sam Bradford is your starter and Sean Hill is your backup. The Rams have too much ground to make up to use a premium pick on a guy that doesn’t figure to see the field in 2014.
