(KMOV.com) -- Police are looking for a woman who they allege stole a wallet from Wal-Mart in the Metro-East.
Resident Gina Baker said she was shopping in the Granite City Walmart when the woman allegedly slipped the wallet out of her purse. The purse was sitting in the child seat of her shopping cart.
Baker reported the incident to Walmart security, after she lost $225 in cash, $125 in gift cards and her credit card.
Wal-Mart gave the surveillance video to police.
Baker said police did not have time to track down the suspect or release the suspect pictures from the surveillance video.
“They more or less have told me cancel your cards,” Baker said, “And that’s the best that they can do for me.”
Before canceling her card, Baker claims the suspect used her credit cards at four businesses in the Metro-East including Auto-Zone and O’Reiley Auto Parts in East St. Louis. The suspect racked up more than $100 in charges.
Granite City Police said credit card theft, similar to Baker’s case, happens more often than you think. They are looking for the woman in the pictures.
Police report the suspect was driving a silver Dodge Magnum with Illinois tags.
