BROOKLYN, Ill. -- A southwestern Illinois coroner says a man arrested outside of a strip club later died from a likely adverse reaction to illicit drugs.
Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn says 30-year-old Jason Jordan of St. Louis died Sunday, a day after he was escorted out of The Pink Slip nightclub in Brooklyn and combatively tried to flee from police.
Nonn says Jordan was hallucinating at the time and was taken in handcuffs to a hospital, where his temperature was 103 degrees.
The coroner says an initial hospital drug screen showed Jordan had the hallucinogen commonly known as PCP in his system, as well as Valium-type drugs.
An autopsy on Monday was inconclusive, prompting Nonn’s preliminary determination that Jordan died of “excited delirium” caused by the drugs.
