ST. LOUIS -- A former Boy Scouts volunteer from St. Charles has been sentenced to five years in prison on a federal sex charge.
The sentence for 51-year-old Michael Engler was handed down Wednesday in U.S. District Court. Engler pleaded guilty in January to one felony count of using interstate facilities to transmit information about a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity.
Prosecutors say Engler met who he thought was a 14-year-old boy on Craigslist. He agreed to meet up with him behind an ice rink on Brentwood Blvd. on Oct. 15.
Upon his arrival, he was arrested by officers involved in an undercover operation.
