(KMOV.com) -- A light pole ended up on top of a south St. Louis home after an accident involving a police car in the Dutchtown neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the police car stopped at a stop sign and began to move forward after noticing no cross traffic near the intersection of Giles and Keokuk at 3:50 a.m. Police say the pick-up truck was traveling south at a high rate of speed and struck the police vehicle.

Police say the pick-up truck careened off the police vehicle into a light pole, which landed on the roof of a home in the 3900 block of Giles.

Police say both drivers refused medical attention on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
