(KMOV) – With warm weather on the rise, Lake St. Louis has seen a surge in car break-ins.
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said this is a seasonal crime and has seen nine vehicle break-ins in the last month.
Lake St. Louis Police say that most of the vehicles broken into were not even locked.
Police are concerned with the number of thefts so early in the season. Lake St. Louis Police Chief Mike Force warns people to not make themselves soft targets for criminals. Suspects typically sweep through an area looking for easy opportunities. A safer neighborhood is often an easy target because residents are less cautious.
Police advice to never let your guard down and to take precautions.
