(KMOV) – Police say more than two dozen officers helped apprehend a man who threatened his mother with a gun at their home in Des Peres Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say the 22-year-old suspect and his mother began arguing at their home on Andre Dr. some time Wednesday morning. Police received a call from the home around 12:10 p.m. after the woman locked herself inside a room because the suspect threatened her.
Upon their arrival, the suspect was spotted in the driveway and took off running. Police called for backup from surrounding agencies and about 30 officers responded to the scene.
Police say the suspect at one point talked to his mother on the phone and told her he was at Wehrenberg Des Peres Cinema on Manchester Rd.
Authorities contacted the movie theatre, which then went on lockdown. Nearby, St. Paul’s Lutheran's north and south campus and St. Clements Catholic School were also placed on lockdown at one point as a precaution.
Police say the man was eventually captured at the intersection of Clayton Hills and Cedar Valley near Interstate 270.
According to police, he did not have a gun with him and was arrested without incident.
