(KMOV) -- Two men were killed after a tractor-trailer slammed into an overpass on Interstate 64 near New Baden, Ill. Wednesday morning.
Officials say witnesses saw the 8-wheeler weaving back and forth on the interstate around 6 a.m. before driving off the roadway and slamming into the Billhartz Rd. overpass near mile marker 32.
Illinois State Police confirm two men, ages approximately 27 and 55, died. Their identities have not been released.

Police say the truck belonged to a Florida-based company and was hauling spools of wire. The wreck split the truck's cab in half, and wire spewed all over the interstate.
Officials say the truck technically hit a solid concrete layer on the outer part of the overpass. The overpass itself had no structural damage.
Authorities expect all westbound lanes to remain closed until after 1 p.m. while IDOT clean up the scene.
"We haven’t had a crash this bad on that bridge this year so we’re doing the best that we can to investigate it and get all the details correct," said Illinois State Police Trooper Calvin Dye Jr.
For a detour, drivers are being urged to exit at Route 8 North near Damiensville, then head to Route 161 West, which connects to I-64 in New Baden.
Police say they continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
"There are a lot of possibilities," Dye said. "You might assume fell asleep at the wheel, medical emergency, heart attack at this time we’re still looking into all of that."
Additional details surrounding the crash were not immediately available.
