(KMOV) – A South Roxana man will probably spend the rest of his life in prison for molesting a 4-year-old relative in 2011.
Harvey Simington, 66, was sentenced to 32 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting the girl.
According to police, Simington repeatedly molested the child for six month in 2011. She was removed from his house and placed in foster care. She told her foster mother about the abuse in 2012.
Simington was charged in May 2012 with predatory sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated sexual abuse.
The girl testified at his trial when she was 6 years old. During the trial, a taped recording played of Simington saying the girl initiated the sexual contact.
Simington was sentenced to 25 years in prison on the sexual assault charge and seven years on the sex abuse charge. The third charge was thrown out. The sentences will run consecutively and Simington must serve at least 85 percent of the sex assault charge.
He has been in jail since his arrest in 2012 on $250,000 bail.
