(KMOV.com) – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is asking drivers to prepare for road closures in St. Charles County Monday.
Crews will permanently close off Henke Road and Technology Drive’s access to I-64 so it can complete the Page Avenue extension.
"Keep in mind this closure isn't just for the duration of this project, it's going to be closed forever so this will not open again," Tom Evers with MoDOT said.
As many as 1500 vehicles drive through the area during both the morning and evening rush. MoDOT is asking drivers to follow detour signs.
"We will have crews out there at various signals in the vicinity. So if there are some back-ups that are experienced because people are diverting using one road more than the other we'll have crews out there to adjust signal timings and help traffic move as smoothly as possible for the first week or two,” Tom Evers said.
The entire Page Avenue Extension is set to open by the end of October. The project is slated to cost $118 million. MoDOT hopes is will ease traffic on Interstate 64 and Interstate 70.
