(KMOV) – A Troy, Mo. man was convicted Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter for causing a Nov. 2012 accident that killed a 9-year-old boy in Lincoln County.
Randolph James was also found guilty of second-degree assault and four other driving offenses.
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
James was driving a pickup truck eastbound in the 2800 block of East Highway 47 on November 21, 2012 when he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming sedan carrying 9-year-old David Simpson.
Simpson was transported to Cardinal Glennon Hospital, where he died later that night. Three of the boy’s family members also suffered moderate injuries in the crash.
According to court records, James has a history of driving incidents, including two prior DWI convictions. He also has served time in jail for past assault charges and has multiple traffic violations.
