(KMOV) – A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being held Thursday morning for a brand-new fire house in St. Peters.
The 10 a.m. ceremony will take place outside the new Central County Fire and Rescue Fire Station No. 2, located just south of Interstate 70 near Mid-Rivers Mall.
Officials say the new 9,000 sq. ft. facility was strategically placed in the heart of the city’s most developed areas. The older fire station was on Main St. in downtown St. Peters, which tacked on an extra 5 to 10 minutes every time crews responded to calls on the southern side of I-70.
The new house will also use GPS technology to clear a busy nearby intersection before a fire truck gets there.
