(KMOV.com) – St. Louis may be the happiest city in the country, according to one tech startup.
Jetpac, maker of a social travel app, analyzed millions of photos posted to the image sharing service Instagram to determine more about U.S. cities, according to Business Insider.
One of the things they looked for was photos of people smiling and laughing. Using data analysis methods they developed, they determined patterns in posts from around the county relating to how happy users seemed to be.
In doing so, they came up a list of the top 20 cities in the country ranked on happiness.
St. Louis came in first, and Kansas City finished second. Cities like New York and Los Angeles did not make the list. In fact, no city in California was listed in the top 20.
